MAME's HLSL demonstrated in Mortal Kombat II

This is just a quick demonstration of how the new scanlines in MAME .0142u4 can make a dramatic difference in the way a game looks. In Mortal Kombat II for instance, the animated background seems to be much more recognizable when HLSL is enabled. This new feature in Mame has the possibility to make original CRT arcade monitors obsolete due to its impressive functionality.

Which one has the HLSL the mame in the left? or the mame in the right side?

@polo64wave If HLSL means a new scanline effect in Mame, then that would mean lines across the screen. Since the video on the left side has no scanlines, you would be safe to assume that HLSL is the one on the right.

Can you post a vid of MK2 with HLSL using the settings that John IV posted on mameworld? I'd like to see it in motion but HLSL isn't working for me. That MK2 shot he posted looked amazing to me.

just tried it and it's not nearly as evident as in your video. Perhaps they changed how it works in 0.143u3 which I just compiled.
