Stay away from 440 stainless katanas. They are very brittle and will shatter on you.

@Bobman4671 anything above a 4000 grit will polish

5. Wash the milled sword clean, and then make it dry with bumf, take out of handkerchief and then put the oil on it to wipe the sword.

Hmm, When you sharpen a blade take your time with it, im assuming this isn't your blade... cause you didn't take your time with it.

HOLY SHIT, THERES A PART 2????
-
@BalorCM2 not if you mix the water with baking soda, which will prevent rust

I attempted to do this exact technique and almost ruined my wakizashi. I noticed about 2 seconds into it that marks were being grinded into the blade by the whetstone. I polished it up the best i could and it is still intact, however I do not believe the little damage can be reversed towards the hilt of my blade. I believe the reason for this is that his blade is damascus and mine is only folded and heat tempered. thank god i did not attempt this with my katana.

why did it break at 1:15

@HotHotBaby there is really no reason to sharpen a 440 since its not really a functional sword.
