Lyrics:

Make his fight on the hill in the early day
Constant chill deep inside
Shouting gun, on they run through the endless gray
On they fight, for they are right, yes, but who's to say?
For a hill, men would kill. Why? They do not know
Suffered wounds test their pride
Men of five, still alive through the raging glow
Gone insane from the pain that they surely know

For whom the bell tolls
Time marches on
For whom the bell tolls

Take a look to the sky just before you die
It's the last time he will
Blackened roar, massive roar, fills the crumbling sky
Shattered goal fills his soul with a ruthless cry
Stranger now are his eyes to this mystery
He hears the silence so loud
Crack of dawn, all is gone except the will to be
Now they see what will be, blinded eyes to see

For whom the bell tolls
Time marches on
For whom the bell tolls

  • i agree that Cliff was better but i still like Robert Trujillo regardless that his skills are not as good as Mr Burton's

  • Wow Lars did a great job with the drumming especially the double bass notes in the intro sounds so fucking awesome it sounds just like a horse galloping :D

  • @donkeydiddydixiekong Looks like they just did.

  • best...head banging...song...ever...only song i learned on bass, guitar, and drums...in my 25 years of life....the quintessential head banging, middle finger flying, metal song of the past 27 years

  • This song is awesome, but you cannot have For Whom the Bell Tolls without the bell.

  • @dronesweeper it is "Hit the Lights", it was recorded for Metal Mania magazine. I remember living in the Bay area and picking up the mixtape of all the bands, and "Hit the Lights" was on the mixtape. that was in '81 man. \m/

  • I love this performance. But, who's with me when I say they really should have done Fade to Black and Sanitarium when they did this?

  • I always loved the way Jason did the intro to this song. The tone is perfect.

  • @MyEPICNESSwilHuntYou i am pretty sure it was "Hit the Lights"
