Apologies for not stopping and getting a steady shot, but I saw some workers griding rails along the University of Minnesota transitway yesterday evening. The rails are for the Central Corridor, and 1/4-mile long segments are being made by welding standard short "sticks" together. Once welded, the excess material must be ground down to make the rail smooth again.
