Here it is, the end of this run.
I tried getting the maximum damage output possible for this fight and try locking him on comboes as much as possible, yet this took me quite some time with his godly HP.
Mathias has one, and just ONE attack that is really dangerous which is his slam attack. All the other attacks deal ridiculously low damage due to fire resistance. Even his hi ougi

  • I'm still mad that this game has no combo proration, Kev got a 1000+ combo, and the bitch still didn't die.

    That's some ol' bull shit. One of the reasons I dropped this game despite liking it so much: There is way way WAY too much forced grinding, even on Normal Mode.

  • @Kevassa02 That's what I mean, even with the lack of combo proration (like most other games have), this game forces you to grind far too much. With Symphonia/Eternia/Destiny/Phan­tasia, you could just go through the story normally, fight whatever enemies you encounter, and reach the Big Bad right around the level you should be to have a decent shot at beating him/her. Innocence? Hell fucking no, you can do 2 full 1000+ hit combos on the boss and still not be done with it.

  • @CenturyBlade Yeah I agree, Alfa systems is pretty bad at balancing bosses in Tales games. Though I think they got Radiant Mythology 3 right, I didn't really need to grind.

    The main problem with Innocence is that good equipment is abyssmally expensive and the customization for weapons is very very obscure. The cooking system in this game is very good, though, so if you got good recipes you can actually tear apart the game.

    I think the problem is that the game isn't self-contained in this regard

  • @Kevassa02 Ehh, the weapon expenses are offset by the Bear Knuckles oversight and the fact that you're already grinding super hard, because if you're not then you're probably going to die against your next boss. Customization guides exist, but even then, the effects are not too tremendously relevant, anyway.

    Most of the people who play this game run into a brick wall midway; that brick wall being in the form of Chien, Cer, and Ber. Right around then is when the need for grind becomes obvious.

  • @CenturyBlade I disagree with customization not being too relevant; it changes the game completely. You can easily make everyone instant cast and have double of their regular HP and defense, making yourself pretty much invicible.

    To be frank, in normal the game is rather tame. It's in hard that stuff gets really unbalanced. I didnt have that much frustation with Chien, Cer and Ber (just put Luca with Lure, everyone healing). But that's your opinion

    One thing that I don't understand is that you have three numbers to count hits but FOUR to count the hours you've lost playing this game, I don't get it.

  • @Kevassa02 Don't remember one that made you have double HP and defense... though I do remember the instant cast one... it has been a while though since I played all the way through without getting upset at the grindfest.

    I don't usually have a problem with Chien, but I've seen a lot of videos and a pretty common comment is "HOW 2 GET PAST CHIEN ? HE'S SO OP LOL"

    In either case, guides for the customization system exist on GameFAQs
