The Shawnee State University VDL (Virtual Design Lab) is approx. 645,000 virtual square feet. It exists (or doesn't exist depending on your definition of reality) as a Second Life classroom and textbook for art and design foundations and basic Art history classes. It is built upon the premise that experience is the best teacher. When students are studying Frank Lloyd Wright they can walk through or tour our accurate virtual replica of Fallingwater built as part of the VDL experience. The same holds true with the Farnsworth House. The process of experiencing the classroom in 3d space maps to many sites in the human brain and offers a higher form of recall because of the inclusion of muscle memory and motion. Nearly every item in the lab is touch connected to exterior websites and artist videos for deeper understanding. The Museum Center has live, searchable web screens for many worldwide and regional museums. Visit us: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/WIRED%204/107/110/995
