Simply moving perfectly describes vocalist Brandla's debut release Move Mountain on JBN Records. Her first single "Move Mountain" does exactly that, inspiring us to move obstacles that we face through life. With art comes pain and Brandla has moved mountains throughout her life to come to the peace she has today. With the blessing of Apostle Wilson and First Lady Pastor Beverly Wilson and her church home Valley Kingdom Ministries International, Brandla is releasing her album Move Mountain on her own terms. Brandla has written all but one of the songs on Move Mountain as her testimony. She worked with veteran producers Jeremy "Vessel" Holmes and Fred "Balze" Crawford, as well as enlisting the talents of Grammy Award winning producer Maurice Joshua (Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Toni Braxton) and 2 time Grammy Nominee Eric "E Smoove" Miller (Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake). There are also a host of feature artist performances as well.
Singing for Brandla began at an early age of four at St. Paul MB Church in her hometown of Jonestown, Mississippi. She was raised in this small town by her late grandmother, Clara Bell Reeves. She grew up with only two siblings but was given the big family experience growing up with four cousins who were like siblings. Early on she was encouraged by a host of music teachers, band leaders and musicians to be the best she could be in music. Often positivity inspires people but negativity drives them. At ten, an experience with a church usher who denied her access to the stage to sing simply because of her wearing a red dress and beads in her hair, nearly crushed her dream. That traumatic experience had a huge effect on Brandla and she still uses it to this day as fuel not to give up. That drive and determination helped her to express her talents as a cheerleader and becoming Miss Black Clarksdale and Miss Coahoma Agricultural H.S. She also graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson,MS with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Those experiences set the stage for the artist she has become.
Brandla's passion for ministering is not limited to music. She is able to utilize her God given talents to care for sick children as a registered nurse at the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital. As well as caring for her own family, as a devoted wife to her husband Pastor Jeffrey Newton and her three children Jeff Jr.,Justin, and Jayla. Based in Chicago Brandla has made the transition from small town girl to big city survivor. Summer visits to her parents in Chicago helped prepare her for this path. As an artist Brandla wants to bring some of her small town sensibilities and simplicity to the forefront reminding people that a spiritual relationship is the foundation for life. Through her gifts Brandla would like to heal people physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. In addition to future recordings and performances Brandla has plans to contribute music to stage plays and movie soundtracks. You can hear her influences in her music from Chrisette Michelle, Kim McFarland, Ce Ce Winans and Yolanda Adams to early influences Michael Jackson, Prince and New Edition.
Brandla's single Move Mountain features an amazing music video showcasing Brandla's passionate performance as well international dance remixes.
