This serene piece composed by the only female composer of "Les six" reflects a variety of contrasting emotions when we remember that it was composed in 1942 in Grasse en Provence, the world capital of perfume... for us, it represents a longing for peace and serenity in a torn up world.

  • magnifique!

My usual listening pleasures had dried up and now I'm inspired again.

    Thank you!

  • @OrchestrationOnline I couldn't agree more with you. I discovered her through reading about 'Les Six' the other day and listening to everyone compositions. Of course I'm a Satie fan, but also a Schumann and Chopin fan. Tailleferre's compositions contain a rare combination of simplicity, elegance, smoothness, and intrigue, mystery, even surreal in a childlike way like in her Pastorale Inca. While I greatly enjoy all of the great composers, there's something so refreshing w/ Tailleferre.

  • Bravo! So nice to see this work on YouTube.

  • Brilliant! Tailleferre is so seldom played - and yet she has such deep simplicities. Where Debussy would have gone if he'd survived another decade.

  • Love it

Thnaks for posting this piece best wishes
