As of 7/9/11 upgrading only the left tower no longer works, you are 40 short of the gold medal. Not sure how to get gold now, if you dont upgrade the tower they get away, if you do you don't get the gold =/

@Lones555 I've been trying to get the Gold again and have not managed it yet. Only 3 towers to choose from so there can't be THAT many possible working tactics...

Why does Steam version make it harder than Xbox vsersion?

The Steam version has received several tweaks to the towers. Moreso than the Xbox version has. I suspect that those changes have skewed the difficulty a bit towards the PC version.
