What's better on Thanksgiving than football?

On Saturday, we traveled to my dad's alma mater, Rutgers, which is having an AMAZING year in football, to see them take on the Syracuse Orangemen.

One of the Rutgers players is Brian Leonard, a kid from a town up near where I grew up, and during this particular game, he broke the Rutgers team record for scoring touchdowns.

My father actually admitted to having tears in his eyes. I have never seen my dad cry--even when his father died--so this is quite significant.

I've edited this down savagely, you'll see the last few plays of the game, and then Brian Leonard leading all assembled in the alma mater.

  • that was when Rutgers was good...

  • This is a great angle to see Brian Leonard climbing the ladder to lead the band (my seats are low and on the other side of the field). What a great moment that was; he didn't accept the spotlight and the adulation until that last game, when he basked in it.

  • ON THE BANKS OF THE OLD RARITAN, MY FRIENDS!!!!!!!

Check out the video on my page, it's footage taken in New Brunswick after the RU football win over Navy.
