Weapons in Yemen

The sale of guns in Yemen continues despite government efforts to close down weapons markets. There are an estimated 60 million guns in the country, which has a population of 18 million. It's traditional for Yemenis to keep a gun at home. This video short looks at the effect guns are having on the development of the local population as well as deaths and injuries caused by them.

Haha you muppet! Theres 3 guns to 1 person in Yemen. And Yemen is not even 10% the size of US! If you think that US can clear Yemen in a few minutes, how come you can't get rid of the Taliban! This is a good video. But things have changed since it was filmed in 2007. The government has closed down the gun markets in Sana'a and checkpoints for weapon checks are everywhere. I've been to the market shown here and it's a ghost town, save for the qat salesmen.

You aint got nothing man! Weapons among a bunch of civilians who don't know how to fire them except at their neighbors.

We got proper weapons in the US, and not in the hands of dumb civis. We got them in the hands of trained soldiers who can pulverise Yemen in a few minutes at the opening of a war.
