I think humans arguing about the 'purpose' today is very similar to philosophers of old debating whether kings have divine right, or whether the gods are fair.
They based it all entirely on an assumption that the cosmos works like human thinking does. We do things for a reason, so the Universe must too. They were wrong.

End is BS, only somebody who does not understand the universe would say it's either Purpose or Randomness.
We have found 54 planets in "just the correct distance from their stars" btw, of course we found those after this vid was made but it's still the arrogance Sagan speaks of in the beginning to say it has to have a purpose.

Very well made video. Carl Sagan was great - and I like the clip from "Knowing" but disagree with statement - there is purpose and meaning... in connecting with other people (as Nicholas Cage's character discovers by the end of the movie)
