  • Feng Zhu is a super awesome concept artist, anyone who found this channel is very lucky to learn from one of the very best artists

  • the word ROBOT comes from slavic languages. An author named Karel Capek wrote a story about synthesized flesh 'robots' back in the 30's. The word was used in czech and slovak languages in the 20th century, and its still part of slovak common vocab. It means 'manual labor' or 'work'. check out 'war of the newts' by Capek. some really genius, hilarious, and clever writing. similar to orwell, but with better jokes

  • the male and femal figures in the backround are great... where can i get them???

  • I am about to go raid my university library :)

  • eyewitness, i used to love them books when i was small! i hope it added to my visual library :)

  • took your advice and read fahrenheit 451 and it was awesome

  • @pawlack Really simple way is get a skipping rope, i promise you if you can find 20 mins two times a day you'll get fitter and your endurance will go up. Just a heads up you'll find it hard to do even 20 mins alone but stick at it.

  • Karel Capek actually credits his brother Josef for coining the term robot.

Anyway, I absolutely adore your videos. Very encouraging. And its great to know that we have the same taste in sci-fi novels and films.

  • Great selection of novels, everyone should read 1984. I am Legend is also a great read, and as with I, Robot, much better than the Will Smith movie!

  • @pawlack the good news is just as this channel gives amazing information about art there are plenty of fitness and nutritons channels as well on youtube. Check them out. Sooby and scott herman have tons of videos on all sorts of fitness and nutrition.

  • This may be awkward question, but i find that being concept artist, or computer artist in general can by quite unhealthy. We need to spend all those hours in front of computer - how to stay fit and healthy? It's hard to find time for a gym or something. Especially while job like this can be fun, but it's exhausting at the same time.

  • lol i use videogame magazines/

  • even an professional sometimes needs to learn of finding new techniques. Using both minds and reference makes you unique because its all about how you see something and how you put ideas for example. a project. Its a big deal to show it to audience and customers how well can you draw and how imaginative you are because some people would admire you.

  • Feng Zhu, if i would be able to hug you for your tutorials etc, your eyes would pop out :D

  • Feng Zhu.... thx soo much for your tutorials... it's totally change the way i'm thinking about design... and what should i do for next....

  • Thanks so much for making videos that distinguishes the importance of design "inspiration" & "reference". It's very easy to ignore stuff like this, and is often overseen - would be good for design institutions to have a brief lecture/presentation on this.

  • I LOVE it that he actually goes out of his way and emphasize the importance of really "understanding" in concept design. This is not something I read about very often, yet it's of paramount importance in achieving that sense of believability that we all have grown up to appreciate in movies and videogames. Excellent video

  • @PNHassett well i;d go with the more successful person in that argument lol

  • Fahrenheit 451 was one of my favorite books growing up, along with Lord of the Flies.

  • I totaly agree wid'im, there's also JULES VERNE world..! thanks Zhu.

  • this video gave me more information in 17 minutes than other books or vids together!!1

  • Once again, you offer such great information. I grow with every video you make. *smile*

  • Thanks Feng Zhu, you are great!!!!

  • @PNHassett you see whats been done before & how things work so you can make something completely new....well at least look new because there is nothing new under the sun. @Feng Zhu where did u get those anatomy models?

  • I had an art instructor tell me you have to make something that no one has ever seen before....Feng says you base your design and what people know....some one is telling me bullshit.
