Hip Hop has traditionally been the music of the working classes, a vehicle for self expression for those that need it the most.
As it has become increasingly popular and entered the charts it had lost a lot of its raw quality, so it's a relief to see it revert back to its original purpose, in the form of a young Irish act from Ballymun, Urban Intelligence.
Told through the eyes of Daniel Mc Donnell (Lunitic) and Andrew Farrell (4 Real), this documentary delves into their lives from growing up in Ballymun, getting in trouble with Gardai, the influence of music in there lives and many other issues.
Recorded in their studio, at their gigs and in The Ballymun Flats, Behind The Mic is an exciting programme not to be missed. The documentary features clips from their live gigs, tracks from their EP and is a fascinating insight into multicultural modern Ireland.
