"Things are indeed hopeless. Hopeless! But they're not serious." Finian to his daughter. A moment latter he's climbed a berm and is tapping his stick and feet, twirls and walks toward the rainbow. For me this is Astaire's symbolic farewell to dance in film. And its a simple and gorgeous and optomistic one.

Adore this film to pieces. It was favourite of my Grandmother and she would always sing me Look to the Rainbow and How are things in Gloccamora. Being from Ireland it just reminds me of home and her. Beautiful everytime i watch it.

yourbestkeptsecret21 time for an update. How was your performance?

This was a musical made to movie past its time ... Like "Hair" being made late in the 70's when we hippie Boomers had moved on. None the less, Pet Clark and Fred Astaire are at their finest.

Guess who was the director´s assistant? George Lucas!

Still tear up when I watch the film and hear this memorable song! Needless to say Petula says it best in the finale "May we meet in Glocca Morra some fine day!"
I think Finian finds his rainbow...........

My Father played the part of Woody In a local amateur production of Finian's Rainbow in 1974 so this musical will always have a special place in my heart. My dad is now 70 years old and Myself My dad and my daughter have rejoined the company SVG for the 50th Anniversary show in June Cant wait to sing How are things in Glocca Morra and Look to the Rainbow with my Dad

i like this, i realy do, but i have trouble watching this bit as i always end up in tears. floods of them. great posting x
I wish you had more videos from the movie up! I'm gonna be Sharon in a community production of the play and I'm having a hard time pinning the accent! I thought it'd be easier if I could watch Petula Clark and sort of mimic her....but she doesn't have a whole lot of dialogue in this!

To tell you the truth Petula Clarke is from Surrey,England. Hers is a strange combination for an accent. I'll see if I can get you a bit more dialogue uploaded
