  • @jimkuppers What's coming out of Nashville these days. Original country music was written by singers and songwriters who had experienced hard times, bad times, the depression, and being poor as dirt. Singing was their outlet and the songs reflected what they knew and how they grew up. Their life story was written in song. Today, most of the country singers have grown up with three square meals a day and very few hard times to speak of.

  • (Part 1 of 2) Merle Haggard's Awards and #1 Songs During His Career:

Single of the Year--"Okie from Muskogee" in1983 Vocal Duo of the Year with

Willie Nelson Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum... Inducted in 1994

Grammy Awards 1984 Best Country Vocal Performance Male -

"That's The Way Love Goes" ....

Merle's life of being in & out of prison as a young teen & man changed him.

He was married several times w/5-7 kids.

Merle is one of the best country western singers of all times.

  • This Filipino lady loves country classics like Merle Haggard's music. Great one!

  • best version no doubt

  • One of the first songs I use to play with my brother.

  • great

  • George who? Sing it Merle sing it!!!!!!!!!!

  • @lazysummerdayes7 I like the 1% :) (the guy who invented the wheel was the 1% of 1%)

  • @dangervich I forgot about Kris.....but he is probably in the 1% of country music songwriter/singers.

  • @lazysummerdayes7 mostly true... except for KK. He was born wealthy and was a Rhodes scholar. But he wrote some of the most perfect lyrics and songs there are. So it's about honesty more than poverty.

  • I want this guy's hats! What a collection!
