@lifeeisabeach18 The film intends to show the meaning of the song just how you said, (fighting=burden) and does so with through metaphor via the statue. I don't think anyone could argue it's literally about carrying a statue.
In actuality there are interviews of John admitting that the song was written about Yoko who was very heavy, and there was nothing else he wanted to say about her at the time other than she was heavy and he wanted her. I believe she may have been pregnant at the time...

@TDubsesbueno most of the songs were not interpreted as the beatles meant them. but technically you can interpret songs or poetry any way you want
