My old Yamaha RGX121 (1991 circa) completely customized: body stripped down to naked wood (alder) and finished in shellac and pure wax, GFS Mean 90 in the neck and the bridge (together in the central position thanks to the 5-ways superswitch) and an old Di Marzio Twang King in the center position (originally intended for Telecaster bridge position ....but, what the hell!!!).
This video is only to display the virtues of my new GFS Mean90s, and it bothered me too much tu cut and paste it (it's sunday afternoon: I know you can understand...) so, sorry for the tuning, the crappy playing... and the awful clothes!!! :-)

PS: the amp is a Roland Microcube in Marshall simulation mode (stack) with tone at 1 o'clock and gain knob in 12 o'clock position and no effects.

  • What's pots do you use 250k or 500k? Thanks!

  • @danielsvn uhm... I don't remember anymore!!! :-O

    I guess they're 500K...

  • Thanks for posting this. I was looking for a demo just like it. You just made GFS an extra 34 bucks!

  • @homersimps1 Glad to be of service! These pickups really rock.

But pay attention: on my guitar there are 5 positions available, but only the first, the last and the middle one involve the P90s only; pos. 2 and 4 involve the mid single coil (a DiMarzio Twang King, originally intended for a Telecaster bridge position). However, you can easily recognise those hybrid sounds, because of the thinner voice. :-)

  • I did the same thing with my ERG121. The P90 are way better than the orig humbuckers.

  • Che ganza la Yamaha RGX col corpo in color legno naturale... se dovessi impazzire e stufarmi del Nero con brillantini della mia RGX 521, probabilmente seguirei il tuo esempio!
