http://www.knme.org - Sculptor Alan Houser is the Dean of Native American art. Houser's life is characterized by innovation and, thus, he has served as an inspiration for generations of Native American artists. His work is powerful and simple, portraying the noble aspects of the Native American and it is a heritage he knows well. Houser is Chiricahua Apache. His father served as Geronimo's interpreter when the Apache were forced to move from southern New Mexico to Oklahoma. It is his fiercely independent spirit and his competitive derive which personify his vast and renowned body of work.
