A misunderstood song. This song is obviously about living homosexual. It is about a young man who is coming out of the closet and trying to convince his parents to accept him. It is not a love song.

Look at the video. The picture of the soldier with the football player. The last card he holds up says it all:  "This is not your parents world"

Worst interpretation ever : ) I had to read the lyrics to see what I was missing with your interpretation. Nothing at all really suggests this song is about a guy coming out. Its about a lover-type relationship that sours because the mate is misinterpreting his behavior/intentions/demeanor. The singer admits he does not know how to make things better, or explain away the mate's perception, because there is nothing really wrong.

Uhh... anyone who'd use the phrase "living homosexual" is in no position to make an interpretation like this. Homosexual is an archaic word and its use in a casual non-medical context betrays a serious ignorance about what it's like to be gay.
