Didcot Railway Center 8-4-07 part 1

the first video of trains at the Didcot railway center on August 4th 2007. The first part of the video shows some action on the demonstration main line with GWR large prairie 4144. after some shots at the platform, ride the train from Oxford road station back to the main line platform. at the sheds we see some shunting action as the 50 ton steam crane and GWR 7808 Cookham Manor are pushed into the shed by BR class 08 604 "phantom and Hunslet DL 26.

Great vid mate. The halt featured at the beginning there was a great place to watch fast trains go by. I used to sit there looking out for Class 47s on the Virgin Cross Country services. Shame those nasty Voyagers had to come along.

Thanks! Yes i saw quite a few Vomiters pass while i was there, one passed right before the steam train arrived at the halt, but i was trying to get my tripod set up so i didnt get it on video. Sadly not much good stuff left to watch in Didcot on the mainlines now. I guess 57's if you want to go at night!

Do the staff at Didcot still allow the public to get that close to the trains, or have the Health and Safety bods gone into some morphic spasm over it? I used to go all the time when I was a kid and I loved it, might look to go back again some day.
