Senator Conroy is also under pressure after his mate, former Queensland Labor MP Mike Kaiser, was appointed to a $450,000-a-year job with NBN Co, the company responsible for rolling out the government's $43 billion national broadband network. The position was never advertised and no other candidate was interviewed.
