I recorded this video at the recent debate, hosted by peta2—PETAs youth division—at Harvard University. PETA vice president Bruce Friedrich faced off against Wes Hopkin from the Harvard Speech and Parliamentary Debate Society to argue whether or not eating animals is ethical.

Sorry about the shakiness—I filmed this from the audience. Enjoy!

  • @AceofSpad3sking1994 P.S Since you eat meat and don't probably eat much of your vegetables..you would't know how much vegetables have iron in them.. I'll list a few and you can google them to see If I' right or not.. These are general foods and things I tend to eat .. Spinach, Pumpkin, cashew nuts, Pistachios, I'm Indian so I cook with curry powder in my food, check out iron content in curry powder.., chickpeas, (we call is channa) , parsley..and lots more

  • @AceofSpad3sking1994 - Hi, I don't mean to imply that I (or any vegan) is leading a "perfect life". But for me, trying to be as kind as I can to innocent life seems to be following the Golden Rule. If I were a victim I certainly would want someone sticking up for me.Or at least not partaking in my demise for momentary pleasure. At least that's what's working for me thus far. But "no" I don't take iron pills- In fact, I took more supplements when I was eating meat - Go figure! :) peace back 2 U.

  • @beaelliott That's cool. I on the other hand, don't think that I'm going to stop eating meat anytime soon. If eating meat is institutionalized then so is eating in general. Great for you if you lead a better life(really, no sarcasm).

For me though, being a vegan leaves something to be desired.

    - Peace

P.S Don't you have to take iron pills or something since you don't eat meat?

  • @AceofSpad3sking1994 But that's not the case at all Ace.... Like me, everyone I know was fed from the beginning on meat. It's the most institionalized/brainwashed "tradition" and "habit" I know of... Me - for 50+ years --- I know all about "beef, pork and chicken". What a boring diet! I now eat more variety than I ever did in previous decades... I feel better physically and like the idea that I'm trying to live a kinder life. Surely, there's nothing to "miss" by not eating animals. ;)

  • @beaelliott I'm not threatened. I'm just making fun of people that don't eat meat. They don't know what their missing!

  • @AceofSpad3sking1994 My, my... Aren't you feeling threatened! Pity you are so intimidated by ideas with consequences that exist beyond your taste buds.

  • If you dismiss caring about non-human animals on utilitarian grounds (which is completely fallacious), why are you talking about wagyu beef? Sounds pretty "utilitarian" (by your account) to me.

    Intellectual hypocrite!

  • 6:30 that shoe was made from tortured cattle

  • Sorry that I didn't hear the whole thing, I was eating a beef-chicken-rabbit-pig sandwich.
