Detroit doowop ballad!
Nolan Strong & The Diablos : "Hold Me Until Eternity" (Fortune Records)1955

More on The Diablos:
Nolan Strong & The Diablos were an R&B and doo-wop vocal group best know for its hit songs "The Wind" and "Mind Over Matter." The group recorded for Fortune Records, a small label in Detroit starting in the 1950s.
Nolan Strong, the lead vocalist, had an etherially high, strong tenor voice. Strong's smooth tenor, influenced mainly by Clyde McPhatter, in turn, was a primary influence on a young Smokey Robinson.
The Diablos were inducted into the United In Group Harmony Hall of Fame in 2003. In March 2008 the group was inducted into the Doo-Wopp Hall Of Fame Of America.

Original Diablo, Jay Johnson is still performing!

  • Yet another OUTSTANDING song from Nolan Strong & the Diablos. Some record company MUST put out a compilation of their music!

  • Awesome video thank you so much for uploading this!

  • One more reason to be a human being!! Diablos are one of the more prolific of the do-wop soul harmony groups from Detroit City. Polished, precise, clean, yet raw. It gets next to me in the best way. Never dies!!

  • Oh Blessed Israel! God Sure Loves you!

  • this is the first song that i heard smokey sing in the style that got him over .can you belive tthat smokey could sing like billy Eskstine? until he heard nolan strong coming up on the north end in Detroit I thought it was clyde mcphatter but as i would find out later it was nolan ,. and as they say the rest is history it was on a talent show in 1954 at northeren high school. back then it was called a program. the chimes performed that record later to become the miracles
