Distinction is the hallmark of this great artist. I saw her twice--singing this song cycle and a recital which was an unforgettable evening. I wish that there was a DVD available that would include this cycle as well as the Elgar Sea Pictures, the latter surely on the great recordings of the century. Thank you for positing

Je connais d'autres versions des Nuits d'été, celle de janet Baker est magnifique, sauf peut-être cette interprétation de "Au cimetière" qui est un chant romantique assez morbide, le cimetière, la présence d'un fantôme... L'accompagnement musical l'exprime très bien mais la voix de Baker pas assez. Mais je fais la difficile.

Je ne comprendrai jamais que l'on ne fasse pas de SES versions les versions de référence-et même historiques-des nuits d'été. Je ne vois pas de version capable de rivaliser.

Admirable Janet Baker. Et dire qu'il a fallu YouTube pour que je la découvre dans les Nuits d'été. On ne se lasse pas de la regarder : tellement expressive. Bravo et merci
