The Mommy Deficit begins to tell the intimate story about why my family chose to become foster parents and how 16 years later, the number 1 issue we encounter is the mother, child bond and how that can be impacted by being removed from an abusive or neglectful parent and how that impacts on ALL other intimate and trust relationships for the youth. Foster care is challenging for many reasons, but the parent-child relationship is so basic and critical and can can be damaged forever, if not acknowledged and worked through in therapy, (individual therapy for the child and couples therapy for the child and new parent). Please join us on the journey of developing and attempting to understand these relationships with foster youth and their lasting impact on the foster family.
