@fiddlercrab3 Found it! It's "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square." As far as I can tell from all the other recordings of this tune, Rahsaan is the only person to ever play it well.

Can somebody tell me the name of the tune Rahsaan starts playing at 2:50 or so? It's the most beautiful melody...

@RyLay I can only assume that you have not read any of Cage's books. He frequently stated that he was trying to write music which was NOT "full of intention". This is what makes his work original. I could give you dozens of quotes, but it is worth reading them for yourself. Cage's approach to non-intention was influenced by his interest in Zen Buddhism. It is the central feature of his work as a composer. Cage wrote several books, but start with "Silence" (his first and most influential book).

@BulbousAlsoTapered I don't know if I agree. I think Cage's music is very intentional but I think he was trying to make our usual connotations with sounds void. It may also be fair to say that he was trying to make music that wasn't particularly expressive but challenged listeners to consider other elements in the sounds. But as far as intention, I think it is all very deliberate and full of intention.

@robbie69612 Cool?!? This is far from "cool". Cool is for elevators. This is "the weird looking animal" that Amiri Baraka wished would come around some day.
