  • this was one of the few MacGyver shows I saw. I remember him taking a 35 HP rotex engine off this cement mixer to put in the ultralight. When the ultralight took flight it looked like a Quick silver with trash bags stuck all over the wings and tale.

  • @ppcg2510 it was a crappy ultralight made out of garbage bags and bamboo (ie super cheep or free)

    but mythbuster suxx, lobsided tests

  • ... but my point is that most usually they do not even have motors, also the ultra light you were in was a "pusher" type motor where the prop was on the backside of the wing, you can help with better lift if you put the prop on the front side of the wing so that the air the prop create goes over the wing to create lift

  • yeah! less weight flies better. you simply need an airfoil that provides greater lift. for instance look into gliders, in theory they can stay up for days and days on in with out coming down, that of course is without the factor of the piolt and his fatigue..

  • Heh. MacGyver can get 1,000 drinking straws, 30 trash bags, a roll of duct tape and a weedeater engine and make an ultralight. Oh, and let's not forget a paperclip.

  • @quantomic1106 I agree with all but one part: not only Grant knows a thing or too 'bout science.

I agree that Tory is the "muscle, no brain" type & Kari migth be on the show just for the pre-instaled safety gear ;p

But I think Jamie & Adam have at least an engineer at phisics or something similar. As stated at the start of each ep., "they have (...) movie effects experiance". That alone meens they know a thing or two.

  • This show is written by professors from UCLA and CalTech.

    These presenters are just actors.

  • @quantomic1106 I agree! This country is so messed up.

  • i hate people who know nothing about planes who try to explain what is happening

  • keep on pressing 3 = "go hump me guys" :DDD
