We used to run into this problem locally at our ice fishing derby, we'd have an average of 115 shacks on the river, during the derby they limit it to 1 car per shack now, and that still sinks the ice a lot. It never used to be like that and one year we ended up having nearly 2 feet of water on the ice. I was happy i didnt have my car down there lol... but there had to have been well over 200 cars that year.

thats what happens when you put to much weight on one area, it gives that trampoline effect of where you go down but you dont come back up.

parking on a lake that has got to be the most stupid thing i ever heard of i hope the water effed the electronics in all of thoes cars
the driver are not there ,they are fishing,snowmobling, ,many more cars did get moved,

gilford rd cook's bay
the ice was safe until some one drill a hole near were they were parking , then the water came up , dew to the wieght of the cars

they park there to go enjoy a day on the lakefishing skidooing etc, very little parking in the village of Gilford On. parking on the Lake is safe,parking close to each other is not. it is a big Lake the weight of the cars push the ice down .when a hole is make in the 8"thick ice water comes up adding more weight .look in the back ground of the picture you will see an other parking area with the same amount of cars safetly parked
