AP/LA Pope Benedict XVI resisted pleas to defrock a California priest with a record of sexually molesting children, citing concerns including "the good of the universal church," according to a 1985 letter bearing his signature. The letter, the strongest challenge to the Vatican's claim that Benedict played no role in blocking the removal of pedophile priests during his years as head of the Church's watchdog office.

The Vatican confirmed letter bore Ratzinger's signature.

From Benedict XV there have been 6 real popes. He chose 'Benedict XVI' as his name, thus...6 and 16 = 616......which, according to scholars in 2005 is the true & original Number of the Beast.

@ferrari4sale Considering that many Catholics are conditioned to not merely equate the Pope with Christ as his 'viceregent on earth', but (as per Catholic teaching) he is believed to be 'the sweet Christ himself on earth", your equating of this "Thing" with God should surprise nobody. Nor your use of John the Baptist's words.....

Of course a man sitting upon the Throne of Moses in the holy place demanding worship as if God fulfills many prophecies....:)

@AgothInnCloth I never defended the pope, and he is a piece of work. I'm just saying that quite a few people conduct themselves poorly nd the people of America have to deal with it. Like when somebody started that 'Boycott Scotland' thing and we had to suffer for it. Don't worry about me not being aware about the vices of the Catholic Church, it can be seen throughout history.
