I was in the studio the day this song Ode to billy joe was recorded by bobbie gentry. in hollywood california . pacific challenger records (chuck whittington) then moved to anaheim,ca. bobbie stole the master and took it to capital records . it took my late friend chuck 8 years to settle the law suit.this is another part of unknown country music history. jerry,bastrop la.

love the song-good job...did you know after she did this song bobbie gentry got married and ditched the music business-dissapearing from the public eye. some assume that she was the narrator of the song and the billie joe was her boyfriend and that they threw baby off the bridge-their baby. When billie joe couldn't deal with the guilt he jumped the bridge to his death...this is all a mystery however. Nice job on the song
