PS3 Firmware 2.40 Update

I run through the new update.

In game XMB, trophies and internet seach. (the maximum amount of friends possible has also been raised from 50 to 100)

#UPDATE#

It has now been confirmed that developers will have to release patches for their games if they want to allow custom music. Apparently SONY didn't think it was right to just let you block out the games music, as people have to work on it, and it effects gameplay.

After complaints that firmware 2.40 was freezing a small selection of PS3 units, (my bet is that they were 20gb versions) SONY has pulled the 2.40 update until thurther notice.

Myself and fellow YouTubers on this video and in general have reached the conclusion that the music function enabled by 2.40 is not primitive to Xbox, and does not work differently. It is simply that the Xbox came out with music playback, so developers chucked the code in to unblock custom music playback. Developers will now just have to chuck the PS3's custom music code in, and we'll be fine! A lot of older games will probably recieve patches to allow custom music.

#UPDATE#

PS3 system software 2.41 is now out! Basically, it's 2.40 without the crashes. The platinum trophy image has been changed aswell. I've noticed that the in-game XMB runs slightly faster aswell. It's all good. :)

you can only play music in a racing type game like midnight club i dont know about any other type game but i know you can in car type you can

It was a great update thankfully it is replaced with 2.70? i think and i say thankfully because it caused freezing of the ps3 for many pp
