I've always love Fred Gwynne. Thanks for posting this delightful song from a show I used to watch as a small girl.
-
@sonmor Joe E. Ross put out an album around the time the show was still on TV of him singing popular songs. He really could sing very well.
-
Man, that Joe E. Ross could sing.
-
one of my favorite childhood TV shows!

You know, after the munsters got axed, they should have gotten the cast back together,as best they couild, and revived car 54. Or at least, gotten the team of fred gwenne and joe E. Ross back together. they had a rare great chemistry!

A wonderful scene from the best sitcom of the '60s. It's a crime that this series isn't available on DVD. It was even shot on 35mm! Thanks for posting.

I can't stand Raymond's brother. I am a Herman M. and Muldoon fan.
-
I vote Toody and Leo.
-
In a certain way, it's kind of ironic how sometimes on the Everyone Loves Raymond show, the brother comes across as a hybrid cross between Gwynne's Muldoon and Munster characters. Regardless, the acting is still terrific..

Joe sang like Toody, but Fred was a crooner. Fred should have recorded the song, "Mutual Admiriation Society" in a duet with Teresa Brewer.
-
'Mutual Admiration Society' was first sung in the musical Happy Hunting.

Frankenstein movies always depress me. I remember seeing Mary Shelley's Frankenstein in the theatre and my friend wanted to leave because we couldn't stand it. I said I didn't wanna waste the ticket money so we stayed. Years later I watched it again and it was a bit better because I understood it a bit more. I think a comedy version is okay but the dramatic ones would be too sad. I'm a wuss like that, lol!
-
i'm almost certain that herman munster was patterned on frankenstein's monster, especially the karloff version. i was familiar with herman before i ever saw karloff doing frankenstein's monster. while watching frankenstein's monster, i kept thinking: "that's herman munster before he learned to speak." :-)
-
Nope, I don't remember my grandfather saying that, haha! Wow, sounds like a lot of Toody clones in the world!
Well, I don't remember every watching any of the Frankenstein movies. I guess when I like someone, I pretty much stick to what they're in. I should really look into Boris' Frankenstein though. People always seem to praise him.
-
ok, i take back my derogatory remark about toody. surely your grandfather didn't say, "oo!-oo!" all the time. toody also resembled the man that my mother's mother married after my mother's father died. even the voice is a bit similar. because of your fascination with fred gwynne
and herman munster, i imagine you enjoy frankenstein's monster, especially when played by boris karloff. basically, herman munster is what you get when frankenstein's monster learns to smile and talk and sing.
-
Toody kinda resembled my grandfather so it's hard to not care about him, lol. Aw, Schnauzer's a cute name for a dog.
-
i had forgotten that toody was feeling neglected. i didn't care much for toody's part. i preferred muldoon and schnauzer. schnauzer reminded me of a hound by the same name.
-
I love that episode. Poor Toody was getting neglected because Muldoon had to hang around the taller guys. I guess they overlooked his height when he danced with his short date and the head guy said it took the attention off of him and his wife. Seems a little unfair to let him stay while others lost their job, though. I wonder if any of those cars still exist.
-
that's funny. i liked the episode where muldoon was afraid that he would get fired for being too tall. i guess the head of the police force was afraid that a very tall cop would have trouble fitting into the cop cars.
thus muldoon tried to avoid looking tall. he started crouching down a bit when he stood or walked. i don't remember how the issue got resolved. i read that the series used cars that were red & white, so they wouldn't be confused with real cop cars when they were used off the set.

Cool, thanks for the add!
I usually just make clips of my fave parts (most of which are the song bits, lol). I'm gonna try and make a couple clips from The Littlest Angel but I have to convert it first (it's on a DVD) and it'll take me a while to figure out how to do that again.
-
I used to hate this show when I was little. What a fool I was. I recently watched a musical called The Littlest Angel with Fred in it and he does a couple songs. He has such a beautiful singing voice when he's being serious with it. I'll be putting the songs from that movie up on my site eventually if you're interested.
Toody and Muldoon are gay lovers. :)

That wouldn't hurt my fantasies. ;-P ALthough I'd prefer Muldoon and Leo.
