this is the screw drive motion that's why it's quick and quiet. i believe its only available on the Nikon mount and the Canon mount has an internal motor. I have the Tamron 28-75mm screw drive and it's awesome.
i'm in desperate search for this lens to use for a bit of landscape photography. =)
