Expanding existing parking for the Village at Sugarplum HOA in Alta,
Utah. The Surveyors scanned the area and gathered and edited millions
of data points with post-processing and visual verification. The area
for the expansion was singled out and the surveyors created a final
edited point cloud with the houses and trees removed so that all that
was left was roadway and hillside. This point cloud was converted into
a .csv file, which can be read by Revit and transformed into a surface.
Once into Revit we were able to analyze the data and determine slope
and areas allowable for the expansion of the parking surface. By
modeling in 3-D we could see the impact in the surrounding houses and
encroachment on the UDOT right-of-way. By adding materials and standard
plug-in trees, as well as some simple modeling of the structures, a
fairly realistic scene was created for delivery to the client.
