This delightful rendition of the Columbian folk tune "La Negra" was discovered by David Landazuri in the bowels of the University of Oregon's Knight Library and brought to life through his own arrangement. This is the first public performance of the song - at his own wedding reception after marrying the lovely Theresa (TK) Landazuri (aka Queen Sheikyerbuti for this video only!). The backup band is none other than Accordions Anonymous.

And thanks to Lorelei for providing this fun record of our wedding festivities, not to mention having introduced me to my wife!

I have to give credit to my cousin, Nestor Vega, who first informed me about this Colombian accordion music form, vallenato, and for Sharon R, who figured out how to play this tune and arranged it for the band. We play it better now. Nestor had mentioned that La Negra was a particular favorite of his.
