Monorail Crash

July 5th after the Disney magic kingdom closed for its 4th of July celebration the Walt Disney World Monorail System Pink Train crashes into the purple while driving in reverse at the Transportation and Ticket Center.

The pink train was supposed to stop operating and return to the hangar but due to a wrong junction it drove back in to the station where the purple train had just arrived. As the driver of the purple train noticed the pink train coming towards it he tried to reverse his train but unfortunately it was too late.

As you can see we were 'requested' to leave the platform, Rest in peace driver.

I have ridden with Monorail pilot Austin Wuennenberg. He was obviously very proud of being a monorail pilot. Since we were going to the Contemporary and we were the last passengers of the night Austin told us we would do a very rare no-stop fly-by of the Magic kingdom platform. This was a highlight of our trip. Austin Wuennenberg was kind, friendly, outgoing and professional. All my sympathy to his family. Austin, we will miss you.
