How Foreigners (Gaijin) are treated when they come to Japan. Cover things like history/culture, "racism", and admiration for all things on the "outside"

I couldn't cover as much as I wanted too. Yes, racism is everywhere in the world, so Japan is no exception, but generally they are not ill-willed.
You can blame "racism" on ignorance, and the Japanese are generally ignorant of a lot of foreign culture. But that too, is the same everywhere. There are plenty of ignorant people in America, and Europe, and South America... anywhere.

How many of you know the names of the 4 main Japanese Islands? Who is the current Prime Minister?

    a. I'm not spreading lies, I'm spreading my opinion based off of many observations that I've made.

    b. I was in Japan for an entire year, going to school, living with a Japanese family, and you're trying to tell me that you know more about the Japanese than I do by being on an online language course?

    c. There are definitely some Japanese that are very well informed about foreign cultures. However, as my Japanese Host-Father said, the majority unfortunately isn't.

  • The very fact you seemed it obsurd for the japanese to not know about US presidents.... i mean... why would they? Why would any country other than america need to know the history of US presidents?

  • @heats1 but first we must conquer spelling and homophones. Peace*

What I'm saying is that it's very arrogant to assume others are naive or uneducated for not knowing the specifics of another, foreign country's politics, when that countries people, similarly, are not taught about countries other than themself.

  • @Myneighbortotoro21 says you. im sorry your school system fails.
