I first heard this song in October 1965. I was then a young merchant navy officer loading iron ore, at anchor, in the port of Vasco da Gama, India. It was long sad work, 15000tonnes by shovel by gangs of 6 men working day and night, gang after gang,,, week on week for 4 weeks with rain and wind and boredom. Then I heard this song,,,a voice from Europe away from all the misery of those around me. I was like Ulysses listening to the Sirens' call...I could not resist it. have never forgotten it.
