Rare archive tv and film footage of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 - a rare occasion when Parry's anthem 'I was glad' includes the chant of 'vivat regina'. NOTE: this clip starts in black and white and moves into colour.

  • @malechauvinistxy It's not part of YOUR identity, it's part of the British national identity. I want to keep the monarchy because I am a historian and the thought of removing a tradition that has gone for 1000 + years is disgusting beyond words.

President of England... christ... you should just go and live in America. No presidents here, thank you.

  • @Strefanasha Actually, the people singing Vivat Regina are the Queen's Scholars of Westminster School, and so pronounce it in Westminster Latin - the school's dialect which is basically the same as elizabethan church latin

  • Long live Her Majesty the Queen!!~From America...you still have loyal subjects here!

  • i hope the next coronation doesnt get scaled back because of these tough economic times in an attempt to look frugal. i hope its just as spectacular as this one, with the elaborate robes, etc.

    Long Live Queen Elizabeth

  • My feelings about monarchy and whatnot are totally irrelevant and unimportant, so all I'll say is that this is quite beautiful!

  • one of the great women of all time.

  • @kingofcouture1996 i think it is customary for queens consort to have a new crown made for their coronation, however in these economic times she might opt to wear the one worn by the queen mother at her coronation in 1937

  • I wonder what catherine will wear when she is crowned............

  • @carpeljets You should have visited Edinburgh as well.

  • @TheAnglopride
