Our producers in this video decided to focus on Gauri - a dalit woman who is supporting her family herself ever since her husband passed away. The triplet of dalit, woman and widow would have ensured that Gauri would be exploited in casteist India. However we see in the video that Gauri is self-sufficient and displays quiet and incredible strength in living her life.
Viewers who saw this video would empathize with Gauri and see how they could also live a life of dignity. Just watching this tape and talking among themselves was enough to unleash power and confidence in poor Dalit women.
