  • someone who is representing something with the word EXPERT in it should show it at least a little bit. The most important role of the bass is to keep time and that was all over the place

  • well, that's basic.

You're not playing jazz in there, you're just playing arpeggios 1-3-5-7.

As stated before, try setting the metronome to 2:4, it's magic, but you'll feel the swing more easily.

It's a great start, arpeggios are under rated, they are the KEY to a great playing. After those exercises, try to aproach those same notes in a different manner, chromatically would make you like a jazzman. You should also improve your swing, jazz is rythmn.

  • DOES THIS EVEN LOOK LIKE A FUCKING BASS GUITAR!?!?!?!?!

  • Still the Best sounding instrument ever, jazz or no jazz..

  • @freddo27 Great reply freddo.

So many people chop up a post, when a player is just trying to be helpful and share what he knows. Then some folks pile on the insults, instead of making the effort of creating and posting their own big ideas.

  • @lughnut thanks for the response man :)

  • If you're unhappy about the tips he's given, you can always ask for your money back.

  • @UnceBobTouchedMe - 99.9% sure its a 3/4....talked to Bob Gohllier @ Gohllier Music in NJ about getting an upright and he told me that most if not all Jazz, Bluegrass and Folk upright players perform on 3/4 basses. When asked why he explained to me that on a 4/4; the scaling is different and harder to make the transition from conventional basses to stand up. Also, transportation for a 4/4 to gigs is near impossible unless you remove all the rear seats in a mini-van if you have a mini-van.

  • ahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

  • Sorry but this is utterly crap. Dude you are out of time, and if you need to watch your hands you may not qualify as the "expert" . If it was intended for learners you need to make a proper reference to 1 3 5.... and what that means to a beginner. Some of the other viewers have a more pointed view that is pretty much bang on.

  • Crap!

  • can someone tell me whats the size of this bass....3/4 or 4/4? thank you
