Does freenetproject org have the latest release? Does it still work? Or are there other websites that have custom builds/newer releases? This seems like a good idea, why isn't it more popular?

I have two questions:
(1) I know that the content on Feenet is supposed to be almost totally anonymous, but is it possible for someone to detect that you are accessing the internet through Freenet itself? (that could look suspicous)
(2) Are there a lot of viruses on Freenet and does this represent a risk to your computer or your anonymity?
Sorry if these are silly questions, I am almost completely computer illiterate.

@Plastik13: AFAIK, you have to allow freenet to use at least 512 MB of your disk, and this space can contain other people data. However, no one won't be able to decode the data stored on it.
