  • There is absolutely no audio in this film clip. If there were it would be amazing because it just intensifies the flow and movement of the ceremony. You cannot hear the water or when the tea is mixed, or her subtle movements. Please post with audio, and I don't mean an overdub of music, cause that would be offensive to the ceremony! Other than that, great video, props on the editing!!

  • you are absolutely right. i will try to post a version with sound later today or tomorrow.

  • there IS sound in this video. but the ceremony is done in silence. to add music to this would have been extremely disrespectful to the art.

  • wow that was a great video, actually the best i have found here so far.

i want to learn the tea ceremony, this is a good inspiration to start :)

  • sayuri54, this ceremony is Omotesenke. You can find out more about the presenter by visiting her site at 'greenteapoint'. See site address at very end of credits for this video. And as mentioned in my comment above, this same video with sound may be found on You Tube by adding the words: with sound, to the title in the search cell. Best wishes.

  • This tea ceremony id Omotesenke. You can find more information at her site, check the credits at the end of the video for the address.

This same video has been updated to include sound. When searching for it in 'search', just add the words 'with sound' to the title.

  • Does anyone know if this ceremony is from Urasenke school or from the Omotesenke school style?

  • As stated earlier, this is the best Japanese tea ceremony you will find on this site. But! - now, if you type in the title and add 'with sound', you will get the same video with its natural sounds (water pouring, etc.) added. The best, bester :-)

  • ALL HAIL MATCHA

  • This is the best chado video you will find on this site. Very unfortunate it is only 9 minutes and 4 seconds long.

Some viewers have commented that it needs sound. I can understand that and it would be a nice enhancement, but would have to be minimal, only the natural sounds of the water being poured, etc.

The presentation is so good and sincere I would suggest just watching it, enjoying the moment and let the sound come to you in your mind. This is a serious presentation in simplicity.

  • While I appreciate a desire for sound, the movements, the video itself is so very good, the best you will on this site about chado I think you could do well to just enjoy the movements and the moment, and let the sound come from within. Too bad it is only nine minutes and four seconds long.

  • Yes, I think that it's almost as important as the visual aspect.
