no. they are no direct replacement. in fact they only fit so-so on the bass and you have to change the pots aswell. soundwise my experience is that i liked the original pu´s a lot for their massive low-frequency punch but missed transparency in the overall spectrum. the ssb4´s make the overall sound of the thunderbird harder, precise and flexible.

@MarnusW182 thanx. the blue one is a fender jazz, the mexico one from the late 90´s. actually it was white but i let it repaint. modyfied bridge an bartolini pickups. also a wonderful baby!
