Jah Shaka - Kunte Kinte Dub

This dub has been in my head all evening. Taking me back to the days when man used skank around places like Holly Street in the early 80s.

Originally by a virtually unknown Battersea group called Black Volts, it spawned untold dubs for various sound systems. It was heavily influenced by the sound track of 'Roots' and is a truly historical piece of UK 80's dub.

I recall back around that time you mention in my local youth centre our local sound system got 3 cuts of this dub on dubplate and I didnt know what the fuss was all about until I got into the reggae ting...I recorded the 45 on cassette and the rest was history...Big upload!!!

Yeh big tune - but remember nuff sounds played this tune back in the day on dubplate (this was not a Shaka exclusive tune) - the bongo dub version was my favourite

All the roots man dem used to skank in the hall at school to this back in the 70's... the teachers would look on, from the safety of the staff room in a mixture of bemusement and amazement. I'm sure they thought we were absolutely crazy. Baaad tune
