Benita Valente on yhdysvaltalainen sopraano. Hän syntyi Delanossa, Kaliforniassa, ja valmistui Curtis Institute of Musicista vuonna 1960. Valenten varhaisen uran merkittävä vaikuttaja oli Lotte Lehmann, jonka yksityisoppilaaksi hän pääsi 16-vuotiaana. Hänen Metropolitan-debyyttinsä New Yorkissa tapahtui syyskuussa 1973. Hän on tulkinnut mm. Mozartin oopperarooleja. Valente ei ole pelkästään oopperalaulaja, vaan myös kansainvälisesti arvostettu liedien, kamarimusiikin ja oratorion esittäjä. Hänen ohjelmistossaan ovat edustettuna kaikki aikakaudet renessanssin ja barokin siirtymävaiheesta (Monteverdi) nykysäveltäjien teoksiin saakka. Valente ilmoitti vetäytyvänsä lavalta esiinnyttyään viimeisen kerran 26. lokakuuta 2000.
