  • Thank you for posting this. The chorus I'm in is singing this in English, and it's easy to hear all the parts, which is helpful.

  • Thanks for your comments and for viewing.

  • The video of the inside of the chancel, chapel, and sanctuary really made the meaning behind the Psalmist's words come alive to me. Thanks for making my day!

  • You're most welcome. Thanks for viewing.

  • we sang this for choir..but we sucked. Or at least i did because I kept trying to sing soprano and Im an alto. xD lmao.

    Such a pretty song. :)

  • Keep trying XQueenAmyX - should be better next time. Stick with alto if that's your vocal range. The Brahms is indeed a pretty song. Thanks for watching and listening.

  • I love how people always rush to say "it needs to be sung in the language it was written in." That isn't always true. You should atleast consider the choir who is singing the piece and your audiance. Some choirs can handle singing in German and some can't. Some audiances wouldn't be able to fully appreciate the work if it weren't sung in English. For all of you who rush to say that the work should be sung in it's origional text..think about this..Should we not have translated the Bible into Eng?

  • I love this song. We sang this for All-District Choir last week and it was beautiful. Though it can be a little tough for sopranos that aren't used to some of those really high notes, like me!

  • @wharp75 People also fail to realize that the German text isn't in the original language either, it's mostly biblical text. Plus back in the day it wasn't unusual for operas or choral works to be translated to suit the intended audience, I don't know why we're more uptight about that than the original composers!

  • sang this in my church's chorale this morning with a wind/string ensemble. it was beautiful :) i really enjoy this song.

  • agreed!
