The Palace of Versailles or simply Versailles, is a royal château in Versailles, the Île-de-France region of France. In French, it is known as the Château de Versailles.
When the château was built, Versailles was a country village; today, however, it is a suburb of Paris, some twenty kilometres southwest of the French capital. The court of Versailles was the centre of political power in France from 1682, when Louis XIV moved from Paris, until the royal family was forced to return to the capital in October 1789 after the beginning of the French Revolution. Versailles is therefore famous not only as a building, but as a symbol of the system of absolute monarchy of the Ancien Régime.
@badpuppy282 It is breathtakingly beautiful, you should visit Paris, I think it is the most beautiful city in the world, and the city that has the most to see in.

My ancestors lived at the palace until the first revolution. They were nobility origionally from a town called Launay which is in Normandy. After Louis IIV's decree that all nobility spend at least part the year with him at Versailles, they spent more and more time there...eventually making the move permanent.
I have allways wanted to see this place (and the rest of France). It looks breathtakingly beautiful!
