Hey there!

This is my cover of Rose Of Sharyn by Killswitch Engage. One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands. Please watch this cover in HD, for best sound quality!

This cover is quad-tracked, which basically means guitars are recorded twice for extra punch and 'hugeness' in the mix. I have recorded all guitars, except for two dubbed rhythm guitars, which are recorded by a guy I only know by his alias, JeffTD from andy sneap forum. I have also used his tracks to transcribe and learn most of the song, so he deserves a lot of credit!

Bass is interely recorded by me with my Line 6 POD UX2 audio interface. They were recorded 'dry', which means I have the clean signal from the pickups, which can then be reamped until I get the desired sound!

The drums are programmed and are extracted from a gp-file, which I edited furthermore in cubase due to incorrectness and lack of crash and cymbals. Drumsound is Steven Slate Drums, but the snare is mixed with another sample to make it sound fatter. Keep in mind Im not too happy with the sound of the overheads and had to make a lot of time consuming changes in order to make it sound decent. The song is mixed and mastered by me in Cubase.

Hope you enjoy the cover as much as I enjoyed making it!

  • i dont suppose you would like to give your presets for your guitar tone? i have been trying for months with my ux2 but nothing i tweak sounds good. do you use those sounds on pod farm or do you just use it to get the guitar and use another program like amplitube to put a distortion on it?

  • @dickAEAH It's in the description. But to make it clear, no, I dont use Podfarm, I use the interface (UX2) to record the dry signal. Then I add the distortion later on in the process (that's called reamping). The amp simulation plugin I use for this cover is Poulin LeCto (in a way works like amplitube, but only as the top) To simulate the cabinet you'll neeed an impulse loader. The impulse used for this particular cover is s-preshigh. :)

  • Genius! Bravo, my friend. ;)

  • @DarkDrago22 Thanks a lot. :)

  • whats the songs name at the begining?

  • @jwcfree8 It's Declaration by Killswitch Engage. :)
